Food | Microwaved Minute Omelette in a Cup

Image
This recipe is a quick and healthy one-minute solution that will save you time and save your waistline! It's easy to prepare and cook for breakfast or a mid-day snack. It could also be an activity that the entire family can make, no matter what age.  Ingredients to serve one: 2 eggs Diced veggies  (Literally anything that you like) Some meat  1/8 cup shredded cheese (or as much as desired) Salt + Pepper to taste Directions: 1. Begin by spraying the inside of your mug with cooking spray so the egg will come out easier.  2. Add your eggs to your mug and mix them thoroughly  3. Cut and mix in your veggies. I just had tomatoes, but I would have definitely added in green peppers and onions if I had them on hand. Veggies are nom!  4. Cut and mix in your meat. I had ham slices.  5. Shake in some salt and pepper. I love garlic salt, so I added some of that.  6 . Using a fork, quickly whisk all the ingredients together until it's

Tech | Favorite apps of 2015

Image
My Main Screen There are so, so, soo many apps in the app store, especially for Android users. I have personally been an Android user for a long time. I currently have a LG G2, which is a pretty old model but it was a quick replacement for my last phone that I lost while Christmas shopping. With all the apps in the app store, there are always those few apps that really stand out as being really great and functional. Here's my list of the apps I loved and their uses: 1. TwoDots : This game has literally become my life, well at least for when I'm either bored, stressed, need to concentrate, or sometimes before I sleep. It's simple with connecting the dots and kind of has a bejeweled-feel, but the games keep things interesting with adding new "powers" or features to the game that makes you want to keep playing to see what new powers will be next. When I lost my phone, this game was one of the first apps I downloaded and I was so glad to see I didn't lose m

Hmong | How to learn a language as an Adult

Image
One of my biggest goals this year is to learn Hmong. I'm a Hmong American, and I want to retain my culture and heritage. I believe that language is a huge factor in retaining a culture, and I barely know my own. It's difficult for me to understand and converse with my grandparents. My boyfriend's parents both heavily speak Hmong and only speak a little bit of English. My church is First HMONG Baptist and the main service is mostly in Hmong, so being to understand the main message would be great. And it's just the cutest thing when little kids speak Hmong. I want my kids to know and speak Hmong, while also being able to understand and converse with them in Hmong. To begin my effort at self-teaching myself Hmong, I of course Googled "how to learn a language." Some tips I learned:  Don't set the wrong expectations. Learning a language isn't hard; it's just a long process.  Gruff Davies explains in his article how the success of learning a la

Book Review | The Four Agreements

Image
This book is a practical guide to personal freedom written by Don Miguel Ruiz. He goes over the four main points of: be impeccable with your word, don't take anything personally, don't make assumptions, and always do your best. Reading through the book you really get a feel for what Ruiz is saying and how you could apply these principles in your everyday life to gain personal freedom and ultimate happiness. Throughout the book, Ruiz explains how you live in your own dream and you have the ability at anytime to change that dream. Essentially, we are all born the same. It's our experiences that domesticate each of us to shape how we are and how we view the world, shaping what are dream may be. Some Main Points: Being impeccable with your word, you use your words for positivity and in what you believe in. Words have so much power and can shape our views on the world and ourself. They can mean so much, or they can mean nothing at all. Sticks and stones can break you bones,

My Firsts | Pair of TOMS

Image
My older sister got me a gift card to Journey's for Christmas, and so I finally got a pair of TOMS. I love their mission of one for one, helping a person in need with giving them a new pair of shoes with every pairs of TOMS purchased. They also give in many more ways, check it out here: http://www.toms.com/what-we-give. The cause is good and the style is also. I got these simple black Cordones canvas pair. They are so comfy and cute, and they match just about everything. Probably not the best for winter in Minnesota though, I'm excited to wear them more when spring and summer come along!  "Inspired by giving, designed to make a difference."

Just Life | New Year, New You

Image
The saying goes, "new year, new you". This year, this saying is especially true being that I am now graduated from college and living back at home. It's going to be weird when February rolls around and I don't have to go back to Eau Claire and attend classes. I now have endless hours with my siblings, and I'm now only 30 minutes away from a car ride to my boyfriend. I also now have to find a job in order to begin paying off all my college loans (and my credit card). Along with that, I have to find a position I enjoy and would give me stability throughout the start of my career. I feel like I have forgotten how to interview and all the answers I have for those repetitive questions. Today I applied to three positions at three different companies. I also received a call from a company I applied to two or three months ago. Beginning life after college feels exhausting, but also exciting! I'm excited to learn new things when I begin a position, and I'm excited
