Five tips for finding a job after college

So you’re out of college and you don’t have that job lined up yet. Don't sweat it, a job you want is definitely obtainable as long as you put your mind to it. I graduated from college in December of 2016 and landed a job that I desired about a month after I graduated. Here are some tips to consider during that job hunt. Keep organized Keep a document of all the places you apply to with the company name, job title and description, and also where you found the position. When companies respond you can cross them out or see which ones are interested in you as a candidate. Companies will ask you how you found the position and when you’re applying to multiple a day through various ways, it’s easy to forget how exactly you came across the position. This is also good because you can look back at the document and see every place/position you applied for.        When you get calls, take lots of notes! Make goals Set small goals, like “I’ll apply to at least 10 jobs...

Just Life | 10 Questions to Reflect on for the past year

Image
This is kind of late, but better late than never! This was inspired after watching the Youtuber, Vagabond  Youth .  I watched the video back in January, but have been meaning to write down my answers somewhere. Goodbye 2017!  1. Where were you this time last year?  Last year for new years, I went to Kong's house, I had bought some bottles on my way to his house from work. I put a bottle of wine in his mini fridge and had put it in a way where it rolled out of the mini fridge and shattered. It was such a mess. We had planned to go to his uncle's for new year's, but we accidentally fell asleep. We woke up 15 minutes before new years to watch the ball drop and then went back to bed. Also on Valentines day last year, well Kong knows what happens. 2. Where are you now? This year for new years, we made it to Kong's uncle's house. And it was a fine, grand time until the end. The beginning of this year also brought a new position for me at my work place, that ...

Just Life | 2018 Year Goals

Image
Here, lays my goals for 2018:  Complete 10 Hmong Lessons  Read 5 books Travel to 5 states  Get my passport  Squat 30 lbs comfortably  Paint 5 paintings  Write 1 song  Read 5 Bible books  Plan lessons & post it  Cook at least 12 times  Be more minimal ( Buy/spend less and give/sell away more )  Simple Christmas gifts ( 2017 I went way too all out, and spent way too much ) This year I decided to keep SMART in mind. I've learned about this over and over in school, and I noticed my goals last year were just way too broad that I didn't know how to measure if I had achieved it or not. So this year I decided to really make all my goals Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time limited (not really much a time limit except by the end of 2018).  I't's February, hopefully everyone is still on track with there goals! ( I know I'm already starting to lack )

Just Life | New Year New You 2017!

Image
GOODBYE 2016! It's 2017! And going over my resolutions from last year, I just barely reached some of the goals. This year I plan to make a game plan to achieve ALL of my resolutions. My New Year resolutions: 1. Learn more Hmong . Be able to at least understand most conversations. 2. Find what I want  to do. This goes along with job satisfaction. 3. Pay more of my loans off than last year, so more than $8,200. 4. Read more. I'm not sure how many books I read in 2016, but my goal for 2017 is at least five books. 5. Do more of what I enjoy.  This is kind of basic, but I want to take time this year to do things I enjoy like writing, drawing, and traveling. Last year I think the only traveling I did was to Disney World in the summer, random trips to Wisconsin, and the family camping trip in Iowa, which can barely be called traveling haha. I want to spend at least an hour every week writing or drawing though and then travel to and explore at least five different stat...

Just Life | New Year, New You

Image
The saying goes, "new year, new you". This year, this saying is especially true being that I am now graduated from college and living back at home. It's going to be weird when February rolls around and I don't have to go back to Eau Claire and attend classes. I now have endless hours with my siblings, and I'm now only 30 minutes away from a car ride to my boyfriend. I also now have to find a job in order to begin paying off all my college loans (and my credit card). Along with that, I have to find a position I enjoy and would give me stability throughout the start of my career. I feel like I have forgotten how to interview and all the answers I have for those repetitive questions. Today I applied to three positions at three different companies. I also received a call from a company I applied to two or three months ago. Beginning life after college feels exhausting, but also exciting! I'm excited to learn new things when I begin a position, and I'm excited ...
