Fitness Series | Kayla Itsines Bikini Body Guide

Image
A late post from last week, but here's the run-down:  Monday I decided to startup Kayla Itsines' Bikini Body Guide (BBG) again on week 17. I'm redoing the initial guide I have and I'm on week 5. I forgot how intense the workout are! I was definitely sore the next day and a little bit still the day after. I don't exactly follow the guides (and maybe that's why I'm not seeing a bunch of progress) but I like to do one round of her BBG workouts and then the other half (14 minutes) of just other workouts. I've never really enjoyed a lot of repetition in my workouts; I like to mix things up. So I did one round of the BBG workouts and then I followed it with various leg/glutes exercises.  Tuesday Since I was so sore the next day, I did just some simple leg stretch exercises. I did a 20 minute Gentle Yoga Stretches with Yoga by Candace. I then did a 10 minute Developing Lotus Flexibility to help with Yoga Sitting Positions. I was also invited to become a ...

Fitness Series | A lazy and short workout week

Image
It's all about the small gains and making use of your limited time. I woke up late Monday, so I didn't workout. Yeah, I'm blaming the time change lol. Tuesday I did a super short workout at the gym because I arrived a bit late to work. (For now, I just use the gym at my work) Wednesday I got a good 20-25 minutes workout at the gym. I started with the bar and decided to kick it up a notch with 20 lbs per side. I did 10 squats and then 10 lunges/side. I did my normal torso rotations(20) and donkey kicks(40), but also decided to try a couple new workouts on that machine, bent row press(10) and tricep extensions(10). All were done with just 16 lbs. I also did 20 inclined chest presses on 14 lbs, and finished the workout with 5 minutes on the stairclimbers (3 minutes back kicks, 1 minute side kicks/side). Thursday is my late shift, so I did an at-home morning workout following Vicky Justiz's youtube videos, Brazilian Butt Lift Workout ,  Excercises to Get a Smalle...

Fitness Series | Pilates for Core and Glutes

Image
Since I have mostly been doing weight for my arms and glute workouts in the gym, I started yesterday off with some pilates for the core following a youtube video by Boho Beautiful . I actually really felt it in my core! I think it was a mix of the intensity of the workout and that I haven't focused on working out my abs in a while. I then did her Brazilian Butt Lift video because the booty can always be worked on lol.  Today is Sunday, and I suppose I'll take a rest day. It's snowing outside, which hasn't happened in weeks! I've enjoyed the warm winter weather, but watching the snow fall down does bring some type of peace. I think I'll just practice some head stand positions/poses.  Have a beautiful day  ♡

Fitness Series | Quick morning Gym workout and stretch

Image
Yesterday, I did 15 minutes on the Stair Climber machine. I do 5 minutes of back legs lifts and then 5 minutes per leg of side leg lifts on the stair climber machine. I then did 15 minutes of various weight exercises. I did about 12 standing pull-downs on bar 5 (14 lbs?) and also did 20 lying chest presses on bar 5 (14 lbs?) I then did 15 of these leg presses on bar 4 (12 lbs?). I tried doing it where I'm laying on my front, but I think my legs are too short or something because I just could not get anywhere in that position lol I then ended with 20 crunches on this nifty equipment. I tried being healthy with a salad for lunch, but later in the evening had a good bowl of pho with spring rolls for an appetizer and a pineapple shake at a restaurant I haven't been to in years ( Trieu Chau in St. Paul )  This morning my arms and bum were a bit sore so I decided to take a stretch/rest day. Did about 10 minutes of usual stretch and then practiced my balance with s...

Fitness Series | Morning Gym workouts

Image
Monday morning I did 15 minutes on the elliptical on level 5, and then 15 minutes of doing 50 donkey kicks and 50 torso rotations with the 6 weight on the machine, which is 16 lbs. This morning, I started off my day with a short 20 minute gym workout. I did 10 arm presses with just the bar. Short people struggles at a gym lol  I then put on 17.5 lbs per side and did:  10 squats  10 lunges I then used this cable machine and had it on 6 again (16 lbs), and did:  30 torso rotations  30 donkey kicks  15 arm rows  and then ended my workout with these 20 leg lifts on this BOSU ball equipment I am now feeling a tidbit sore on my lower half. Looking forward to tomorrow!  ♡ **Suggestions are very much welcomed on how I can achieve more results.

Fitness Series | Workout and Yoga

Image
I enjoy doing my workouts in the morning. It starts my day off right, and makes me already feel productive. Yesterday it snowed and I ran a little late to work, so I was only able to do about 30 reps of arm workouts (did 5 bars on the arm machines, which I believe is just 12 lbs?). Today's workout was a quick approximate 35 minutes of my morning: 50 crunches  25 side-to-side crunches  10 sit ups 50 donkey kicks, fire hydrants, rainbows with ankle weights  25 lying leg lifts with ankle weights  25 side lunge with lift ankle weights  25 squats with 8lb dumbells over head lifts  10 good morning dumbell deadlifts with leg raise and dumbells  25 flies with 5 lb dumbells 25 bridges with 8lb dumbell  25 bridges per leg up with 8lb dumbells 15 downward dog push-ups  I then stretched it all out with this yoga routine, " Yoga du matin"  by Doctissimo . It's in French, but all you really have to do is follow the movements ...

Fitness Series | Neck Pain Yoga and a Light Jog

Image
I started this morning out with searching some yoga routines to relieve neck pain because the right side of my neck was so sore when I woke up. I'm not sure if I had just twisted it some odd way yesterday or just slept wrong, but it's still quite sore even right now at night while I'm writing this. I followed this " Easy Neck & Back Pain Stretches & Exercises " by PsycheTruth routine. Since it was only 10 minutes long, I also did a different PsycheTruth yoga routine " Neck & Should Pain Relief Exercised & Yoga Stretches Jen Hilman ". To be honest, I enjoyed the second video much more. She was more interactive with her camera audience and just made it enjoyable (maybe that was just because it was a longer video so she had more time to fill up but who knows). Later in the day I took advantage of the warmer Minnesota weather we've been having and did a light 15 minute jog around Buffalo Lake. I haven't jogged in such a long time;...

Fitness Series | Night time workout

Image
Enjoyed a night time workout with my younger siblings. We don't follow the same routine, but it's nice just to be in the same room with other people working out in order to motivate each other. Below was my approximately 30 minute workout routine tonight. I took a break in the middle to dye my grandma's (pog) hair. Stretch 100 donkey kicks with 2.5 lb ankle weights  50 fire hydrants and rainbows  with 2.5 lb ankle weights  25 Leg lifts  with 2.5 lb ankle weights  50 yoga ball crunches (55 cm ball) 25 side lunge  with lift - 2.5 lb ankle weights  25 pulse squat  25 squats with overhead curl (5 lb dumbbells) 25 tricep overhead curls  (5 lb dumbbells) 25 flies  (5 lb dumbbells) 25 lunges  15 half V-ups  25 Russian twists with a 5 lb dumbbell 10 push-ups & 10 girl push ups 25 tricep dips  Practiced head stand Today I wore my EzyFit Waist Trimmer , which ...

Fitness Series | Saturday Yoga, Glutes, and Arms

Image
I worked out for almost an hour this fine Saturday morning:  Stretched  25 leg lifts  25 scissors  50 crunches  Followed Boho Beautiful again with her Yoga for Weight loss winter video  30 side leg lifts and clams  50 inner leg pulses 40 standing side leg lifts with ankle weights and 8lb weights.  50 donkey kicks, fire hydrants, and rainbows with ankle weights  25 crunches  25 toe touch crunches  25 sides pulses  15 arm flies 8 lbs  15 tricep overhead dips 8 lbs  I use the Gold's Gym ankle weights, which I'm pretty sure I bought from just Walmart or something, possibly Amazon? I absolutely love them though! They're comfortable and give my workouts some resistance. The velcro is loosening, but over almost a year now, it has done it's job very well! The one's I got are 2.5 pounds per ankle weight.  The rest of the day I went on a small, unschedul...

Fitness Series | Morning Yoga and Glutes

Image
Here is the first post to the start of my fitness series. I'll be trying to post as much as possible so I'm able to look back and remember the workouts I was doing in the past. Yesterday morning (Thursday, February 23rd) I followed this Morning Yoga routine by the Youtuber Boho Beautiful. I absolutely love her channel for yoga routines. I also love how she adds in motivational quotes at the beginning. This video says "The choice you make today defines your tomorrow". Her routines are the perfect amount of challenging and soothing. I also love how she implements at the end that doing this routine is a way of loving yourself and your body, and to take a moment to thank yourself for that. After the Yoga routine, I did a few exercises for the glutes. So about 20-25 donkey kicks, fire hydrants, rainbows, and bridges with 2.5 lb ankle weights. I feel like I did more exercises but I can't quite remember. I just recently about perfected the headstand so I practic...

Tech | Favorite apps of 2015

Image
My Main Screen There are so, so, soo many apps in the app store, especially for Android users. I have personally been an Android user for a long time. I currently have a LG G2, which is a pretty old model but it was a quick replacement for my last phone that I lost while Christmas shopping. With all the apps in the app store, there are always those few apps that really stand out as being really great and functional. Here's my list of the apps I loved and their uses: 1. TwoDots : This game has literally become my life, well at least for when I'm either bored, stressed, need to concentrate, or sometimes before I sleep. It's simple with connecting the dots and kind of has a bejeweled-feel, but the games keep things interesting with adding new "powers" or features to the game that makes you want to keep playing to see what new powers will be next. When I lost my phone, this game was one of the first apps I downloaded and I was so glad to see I didn't lose m...

OOTD | Today's workout is Sponsored by Coffee ☕☕

Image
McDonald's pumpkin spice latte did give me a boost this morning at 6 am! I have yet to do my workout, but it will eventually happen probably within the next hour. I've never had their pumpkin spice so I thought today was a good day to try it. And it was quite delicious! It had a settle pumpkin flavor and wasn't too sweet, which I would say both were pluses.  The first glance I got of this shirt, I absolutely loved it! I love coffee, and I'm trying to get motivated to workout more so this shirt was just perfect. Though it is a bit large, the fabric is extremely soft and tying a knot at the corner never hurts to make a shirt more fitting. A nice shirt with a bold statement, some leggings, and comfy shoes makes it a fine beginning of any day.  Enjoy every morning!
