Fitness Series | Workout and Yoga

I enjoy doing my workouts in the morning. It starts my day off right, and makes me already feel productive. Yesterday it snowed and I ran a little late to work, so I was only able to do about 30 reps of arm workouts (did 5 bars on the arm machines, which I believe is just 12 lbs?). Today's workout was a quick approximate 35 minutes of my morning: 50 crunches  25 side-to-side crunches  10 sit ups 50 donkey kicks, fire hydrants, rainbows with ankle weights  25 lying leg lifts with ankle weights  25 side lunge with lift ankle weights  25 squats with 8lb dumbells over head lifts  10 good morning dumbell deadlifts with leg raise and dumbells  25 flies with 5 lb dumbells 25 bridges with 8lb dumbell  25 bridges per leg up with 8lb dumbells 15 downward dog push-ups  I then stretched it all out with this yoga routine, " Yoga du matin"  by Doctissimo . It's in French, but all you really have to do is follow the movements ...

This is my absolute favorite way to eat oats! Overnight oats make a healthy and quick breakfast alternative. Oats are a great source of dietary fiber, which lowers level of bad cholesterol. There are so many more other health benefits of eating oats! Overnight oats is also very adjustable in making changes to the ingredients so it's just the way you like it! Additionally, it's very fast to prep for tomorrow's breakfast and cheap. Here's how I enjoy making my overnight oats! Ingredients:  1/2 cup of Rolled oats 1 small container of Yogurt 1/2 cup of Almond milk Pinches of Ground cinnamon Directions:  1. For overnight oats, you will need rolled oats. Fill up your container with about 1/2 cup of rolled oats. I'm using a mason jar that has helpful measurement marks on the side of the container. 2. For liquid, I am using unsweetened almond milk, but you can also use normal milk, sweetened almond milk, or even water. I fill it up to measure out about the sa...

This recipe is a quick and healthy one-minute solution that will save you time and save your waistline! It's easy to prepare and cook for breakfast or a mid-day snack. It could also be an activity that the entire family can make, no matter what age.  Ingredients to serve one: 2 eggs Diced veggies  (Literally anything that you like) Some meat  1/8 cup shredded cheese (or as much as desired) Salt + Pepper to taste Directions: 1. Begin by spraying the inside of your mug with cooking spray so the egg will come out easier.  2. Add your eggs to your mug and mix them thoroughly  3. Cut and mix in your veggies. Food | A Quick Breakfast Sandwich

Image
This sandwich has been my life saver so far this semester. Pretty much every morning I can fall back on this wonderful breakfast. It's just simply whole grain wheat bread, almond butter (Peanut butter is just as good), hazelnut spread (Nutella, or in my case JIF brand because I'm on a budget and why not try something a little different), and then bananas (if I have some). This is such a quick and easy make and walk out the door breakfast, especially for those running-late-to-class moments which is almost everyday for me. It's tasty! And in some way healthy: Whole Grain Wheat Bread benefits:   Whole grains is a high-fiber food. As an adult, we need about 25 to 35 grams of fiber everyday. Whole grains contains two types of fiber-soluble and insoluble-which are both very health beneficial. The fiber can help in having healthy digestion and bowel movement. It also helps with lowering cholesterol and blood pressure. Whenever I have the choice of different breads to ge...
