Just Life | 2016 in Review
2016 was quite a year (like most years are). There were achievements and failures, high times and low, but at the end when you look back on it, it was all pretty good.
I began the year at Urbana with lovely people! It was the first time not spending the first hours of a new year with my family. In January, I also lost my wallet (and had also lost my phone at the end of 2015 while Christmas shopping) and from that I got my identity stolen because since I was job hunting I had my Social Security card in it. After a few months the police eventually caught the person who had my driver's license, which I was very much thankful for! Getting my identity stolen was definitely a hassle and very annoying to have to deal with as I was just getting out of college. Overall, January was full of job hunting, going to interviews, and relaxing in the way I relax (which is keeping myself busy).
In February, I started my first job after college! I visited Washington D.C. and got to meet good ol' Honest Abe's national monument with my colleagues.
I can't really remember anything memorable that happened in March. Lol.
In April, I damaged my phone replacement and bought my first phone from an actual phone store (usually I go online to get something cheap, or I've been given a phone).
In May, I got into a pretty big disagreement with my brother and I'm still not sure it everything is right again. But I guess that's just how it will be. It still worries me what I can do to make anything better, but I'm just not sure. Everything happens for a reason, and maybe that incident has a reason that I just can't see yet.
June held the usual events of teaching Vacation Bible School at my church and the fun summer festivities. My graduation party was also held, which I procrastinated and probably made a fool of myself during my speech. Public speaking is not my thing, definitely something I could work to become better at. This big celebrations are always fun though; relatives from out of state come into town and we get to reconnect all over again :) Also saw Florence and the Machine in Concert with my old college friend.
In July, my siblings and I went on our first actual sibling vacation! We went to the most magical place on Earth (Disney World!). It was a jam-packed vacation, and was about a week after Pokemon Go had come out so... You know. We played Pokemon Go half of the time and ran our phone batteries low but it was still an awesome trip!
August and September came and gone. The months had the usual fun summer activities like friends and family camp, canoeing, and long summer walks. Reviewing the summer though, for some reason I felt like it had been very tough in my relationship with my boyfriend. I'm not sure if it's just because we had been hanging out too much together or what it was. I still can't get my head around why everything felt so hard, but it has become more relaxed now and smooth again. Without even knowing it, that man is always able to remind me why I love him so much with the little things he does and says.
In October, I was able to get out of town for a little bit and visit some of my college friends in Milwaukee. It's always good to catch up with people you barely get to see and have everything feel like nothing ever changed. Those are the relationships you know are strong and will be able to upkeep :)
In November, my aunt got married and I was honored to be a part of her bridal party! Their wedding was so beautiful, and the two of them are wonderful together. I'm so happy for them!
In December, my faithful, trusty EPE (my KIA Sorento) started to die on me. It was decided by the end of the year that I would have to get a new car. And so with all the holidays, December led us into the new year.
The past year was pretty successful, and I'm looking forward to the rest of 2017 to grow even more!
