Beauty | March ULTA Haul
I always get dragged into stores by their coupons. ULTA sends you 3.50 off of a $10 purchase coupon monthly and so of course I go there with intentions of just getting things I know I need and would get at Target or Walmart anyways. I purchased the Cetaphil daily facial cleanser I've been wanting to try and a peel-away clay mask. Since I've recently stopped taking birth control pills, my hormones have been reacting and I've been getting pimples all over so I thought I would focus on my face.
- Cetaphil daily facial cleanser. This product is very soft on the skin. I feel like it isn't doing too much for my skin though. I might just be too use to having a cleanser that is also an exfoliant so it feels like it's not doing as much as my old cleansers. I probably won't be re-purchasing this product.
- Freeman's Sweet Tea & Lemon Peel Away Clay Mask. I really like this product, even though the peel comes off flimsy and light so you're not really able to see all the nasty stuff peeled from your pores. It does make my skin feel baby smooth though! It comes off perfect and is easy to apply.
Of course the coupon drags you in the store and then they have other sales; this particular day they had a purchase $20 of ULTA products and you get a makeup bag full of other ULTA beauty products, which was such a steal I couldn't pass! I bought some matte black eye shadow, makeup remover wipes, and a contour stick.
- Matte black eye shadow. It's matte enough and black enough. I'll give it a thumbs up!
- Makeup remover wipes. Though my sister absolutely loved these and said that it takes off her Dior mascara better than her Sephora makeup remover, I felt like the wipes weren't able to complete its' job with just one wipe. I'm not sure if I'm just not soaking my eye makeup in the pad long enough or if I just wear too much make up sometimes, but I feel like every time I use these when I'm wearing mascara I still have mascara running down my eyes when I wash my face.
- ULTA Contour stick. This is my first contour stick and I absolutely love it! It's easy to apply and blend. With a contour stick you're able to easily control where your contour shade goes and shouldn't go on your face. I also feel like this contour stick lasts pretty much all day.
In the free ULTA makeup bag came other ULTA products: Flawless primer, three makeup brushes, highlighter and blush, mini eye shadow palette, matte lip cream, dual ended liner, eyebrow pencil, mini lavender nail polish, to-go eye makeup remover, Mauve Me lipstick, Voluptuous mascara, and a NAKED concealer sampler. I haven't tried all the products yet still, but here are some reviews of the one I have:
- Voluptuous mascara. I'm not too picky about mascara, but I honestly haven't found one that I've really liked in a while. I REALLY liked this ULTA Voluptuous mascara, and the orange container is just a plus. I feel like it really makes a difference in my lashes, and I got pretty short lashes.
- Eyebrow pencil (warm brown). I actually needed new brow product, so I was so happy when I found this in the bag! It works pretty good. I go off and on with powder and pencil though. This pencil is decent, I wouldn't say it's amazing but I do like it.
- Mini lavender nail polish. It's a pretty color! I wouldn't had thought that ULTA's nail polish worked so well. One layer would've just been fine to get the color to pop, which is awesome.
- Makeup brushes. The make up brushes are so soft! A lot better than my other ULTA brushes that I had from 2011? I threw those out, and I've been using the blush brush for my contour pretty much daily. It feels so nice on the face. I haven't really used the other two eyeshadow brushes, but that's because I don't wear too much eye shadow makeup.
- Mauve Me lipstick. I felt like the color is on the pink side. When I think of mauve, I think of more neutral and lip colored. This shade is fine, just more on the pink side than I first expected.
I then got another 3.50 off of $10 and went back and got a couple more products before March ended:
- Batiste Dry Shampoo. I’ve tried a few other dry shampoos and I find myself picking this one back up; cool and crisp fresh version of Batiste dry shampoo. It smells good and it does the job very well!
- Not your mother’s Knotty to Nice Conditioning Detangler. Since growing my hair long, it’s constantly getting in such a rat's nest so I finally decided to buy a detangler. I definitely feel like it works. It does need quite of bit of product for it to really detangle though. It also smells great! Sweet and Orange-y. At the end of the day, my hair still ends of tangled but it does the job when you first put the product in. 👍
P.S. I enjoyed ULTA a little too much last month. With all the products I got though, it's amazing that no more than $50 was spent on all this.
