Just Life | Quick Morning Routine for Success

There is so much value in having a morning ritual, and waking up an hour of two before you have to start any type of work. Remember that you can do anything, your mind is the only limitation!

To begin, 5 reasons why you should start a morning routine:
  1. It prevents the drift effect by giving you a destination to start deliberately with a mission and purpose.
  2. It restores your focus right in the morning to set your intentions for the day and your life. To do your best and to do the things you said you would do to improve your life.
  3. It helps you make progress to your most important tasks to align yourself with the life you want to live.
  4. It gives you structure to something that is typically a wasted part of the day. It allows you to hold yourself accountable to you - usually we have someone else holding us accountable.
  5. It starts your day calm versus rushed, which sets the tone for the rest of your day.
With that being said, a quick routing to create could entail:
  1. Perform a quick stretch, and go over some affirmations.
    • Stretch your arm, legs, cat/cow poses, cobra pose, downward dog, child's pray.
    • Say or think about affirmations such as "You are happy with who you are and all that you have", "You are the creator of your destiny", "You are exactly where you need to be at this moment", etc.
  2. Give thanks and meditate on things you're grateful for today.
  3. Journal.
    • Write down your dreams, ideas, gratitudes, or script. Let your gratefulness and positivity continue and flow through your hands onto paper.
  4. Review your goals, and reflect on your current progress.
    • Look at the 3 coolest things that you want to happen in your life this year, and think about where you're at in achieving them and any habits you need to reenforce today to take steps closer to them.
  5. Write down tasks or habits you need to do today, or future plans for next week or month.
    • If you have a bullet journal, fill in any trackers you might have in it (I currently have sleep, exercise, reading, food, and mood).
  6. Get ready for the day:
    1. Brush your teeth
    2. Wash your face
    3. Apply lotion on your face and body
    4. Change your clothes
    5. Put on accessories/makeup
  7. Intake your first cup of water to boost your morning.
This can be such a vital self-care routine - it's a time to invest in yourself! Also remember the following 7 good habits for success:
  1. Learn something new everyday
  2. Have a fixed sleep schedule
  3. Exercise everyday
  4. Read 30 minutes everyday
  5. Meditate twice a day
  6. Eat healthy
  7. Create daily to-do lists
Setting up these kinds of habits and routine sets you up for success in anything. I'm on a path to change my mindset and my life, and I really do believe this will be one of the best first steps. Good luck to all!

P.S. I recorded this video back in the beginning of the year before the pandemic was in full force, so I use to leave to go to work but I've been working from home now - unknown when we'll go back into the office. I have been enjoying it quite a bit! A lot more time to spend with my family, and less time spent commuting. But I have found that it's easy to just roll right out of bed at 7:29 and start working at 7:30 without having any type of routine to get ready. The last couple weeks I've tried waking up earlier and following more of a routine, and it definitely helps boost my mood for the day and makes me more productive and motivated to work towards some of my big goals for the year. So I thought I'd share this routine as a way to keep myself accountable, and also to share with anyone else wanting to create a quick morning routine to set yourself up for success!
